The Hammer

This came up in the comments yesterday, but it is certainly worth giving it a little attention here. Yesterday, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled against the free speech of judges in Williams-Yulee v. Florida Bar. You can read the opinion by clicking on that link and can get some analysis from the SCOTUSblog here. In ruling, the Court relied on the interest of "public confidence in judicial integrity." This topic split the Court with Scalia, Thomas, Alito, and Kennedy on the dissenting side.

What do you think? Did the Court get it right in upholding the the ban on candidates personally soliciting campaign funds?

Anything else you want to talk about today?
